Hi there,
My God, I said as I looked around to see if anyone else was there, but it was only me and whatever, in the water.
My line just kept reeling out and I wondered if there would be any left by the time I turned this thing around and got a look to see the humugus monster between me and the hook.
Ah-ha got it turned and it's coming toward shore, but still yanking downward to the jagged rocks and floating seaweed.
Again I peered over my shoulder to see if anyone had come to see the battle at hand, but it was just me and my fishing pole and whatever at the end.
My lawnchair tipped under all the pressure of me leaning so heavily on one side that I thought I'd fall over and that would be it, but I struggled and uprighted myself again just as he took another run for open water.
With the tip of the pole pointing at eleven o'clock and bent over like snapping whip I wondered if this could possibly be one of those BIG HEAD CARP that we heard so much about, and then with a gigantic splash I just wasn't sure.
My line was going like a skipping rope with every thrash of his head as he jerked from side to side, and seeing that, I knew I had to get control if whatever was to be landed.
Thinking about the seventeen bass I had caught and released on sunday he finally came in close enough for a short but erupted view and I said outloud "you're to big to be a bass" then he was gone again, but he was tiring and soon headed back to me. After about fifteen minutes in the boiling hot sun and both of us all tuckered out, he finally gave up and I just beached him.
What I thought could have been a big head carp turned out to be probably the biggest smallmouth bass I have ever caught.
PS
not a fish story but it could be don't you think?
lol My Grandfather sent me this.....funny eh
