lol i went off the pier last summer with my nephew, and i had the wife drop us off, It was nice and sunny warm, and lots of people, seen a guy get about a 8 pound brown, Wow was that nice, Then in a matter of ten minutes the skies were black, water surging over the wall and hail the size of golf balls, Me being the nice guy i am i stuffed my nephew in the portable so he was out of the hail, and then 10 mins later it was sunny again, Man was that a trip lol

every spring a few of us head out and do some cat fishing.for the most part we fish erie tribs since they are close to home.we set up shop around dinner, light a fire, cook some dogs/burgs and fish till the wee hours of the night.cut bait, rotten or fresh works best.theres many ways to cure it.from my experience, everyone has there own secret recipe but in general just leave pieces of meat in a bucket for a few days out side in the sun and just simply freeze some fresh stuff.we bring both and let the fish tell us what they want to eat that night. in the dead of summer, when were board of the norm.we wade out to a sand bar,set up chairs and cast out raw shrimp.you get alot of sheep head as well but who cares, were just out there for fun anyways..over the years ive seen channel cats caught as big as 25lbs but heard of a 30lber or 2 caught.my personal best is a 21lber but in recent years we havent broke 20lbs. for you that are concerned about being "stung" the smaller ones are the fish you have to worry or watch out for.the bigger guys are softer spikes(almost bendable) and less likely to flop about and "sting" you.theres an old wives tale as well.if you do get stung, rub where you got hit on the belly of that fish...not to sure why,ive been stung and rubbed it on the fishes belly but it still hurt like hell..and make sure you clean it good, infection is almost garunteed.
